Rivers State choristers celebrating their win

It was an intriguing night of choral performance as respective State Choirs in Nigeria presented at the 2016 Inter-State Choral Singing Exercise held at Ravine Pentecostal Centre, Uyo, Nigeria on 9th October 2016.

The occasion was attended by special guests including His Lordship Bishop Alex Igwe (Bishop of Port-Harcourt Region), and other members from the Leader’s office.

Following the CNCF International Chairman's opening speech, Akwa-Ibom State Central Choir thrilled the audience with a scintillating welcome song before the commencement of the Inter-State singing exercise.

A total of 10 state choirs partook in the singing exercise and were assessed by the International Panel of Judges Committee of five distinguished judges. After a rigorous assessment and evaluation rounds, Rivers State Central Choir emerged the winner of the 2016 Choral Festival Inter-State Singing Exercise with an exceptional choice piece “Letter to a Brother” by Brother David Mendie, and was conducted by Brother Egiom Dighoboh Sotoh. The choir received a standing ovation from the cheering crowd after their stage rendition. Akwa-Ibom and Cross River State Central Choirs were runners up with 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Members of Rivers State Central Choir were very excited to be pronounced winners of the singing exercise which they last won in the year 2010 under the choral mastery of its then choirmaster and choice piece composer Brother Innocent Udoaka. The choristers celebrated the victory with their golden trophy to hand, they jubilated in songs into the streets around Ravine Pentecostal Center, Uyo, Nigeria.

The Holy Father bountifully blessed His children at the end of the choral festival, and feast was served.
